Don't let the trees fool you when it comes to aerials of NJ and parts of Long Island. Its dense, especially the NJ side. Lots of apartments, usually in the 4-5 range inhabit parts of Essex, Passaic, Union, and so on, but often the trees make it seem not as dense compared to Brooklyn or Queens. Northern areas to the Bronx are also littered with density.

What might be deceiving about NJ are what look like single family homes, especially approaching NYC, but these are really apartments. Similar to how Providence, RI looks like its a bunch of single-units from the air, but often they are 4-5 families in each structure.
