I found this photograph of 479 East Vernon Avenue on ebay the other day.

I immediately hopped on the 'googlemobile' and headed over to the 400 block of E. Vernon.

This particular house wasn't there, but there were similar houses that have survived.

The real surprise was this marvelous building.

With it's three bays, my guess is that it used to be a garage of some kind.
There is a multi-story section as well, equally elaborate in architectural detail. (and a modern AT&T addition)

Here's another photo of the architectural detail that I tweaked a bit.

From this aerial view, you can see from the rooftop 'mechanics' that the building is in use by AT&T.

I would love to see this building during it's heyday. Does anyone have any information on it?
