Living in another even more isolated city (Denver) most non-mountain trips involve getting on a plane. Luckily there are frequent and usually pretty reasonably priced air connections to every major city in the US (and lots of smaller ones too) and a handful of international cities. Unlike parts of the country where you can drive or take a train to a bunch of cities you can't really do that here but you do have a lot of outdoor recreation within a couple hours.
