Arlington National Cemetery makes an interesting day trip across the Potomac River. I visited on a windy and chilly day and was very moved by it.
The famous endless rows of tombstones.
The last resting place of John F. Kennedy.
Arlington House on top of a hill.
Nice view over Washington from the Arlington House.
Lincoln Memorial
Thomas Jefferson Monument
Space Shuttle Challenger Memorial
Space Shuttle Columbia Memorial
Tomb of the unknown soldier.
More tombstones. A lot more.
Cemetery transit
Iwo Jima memorial is just next door. I was surprised how big it is in real life.
Rosslyn town center has some of the few D.C. area high-rises.
