The University of Houston held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new $90 million Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine building on Oct. 27.

The three-story, 130,000-square-foot building sits on 43 acres along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at 5055 Medical Circle. Inside, students are met with modern classrooms and meeting spaces, up-to-date research spaces, and anatomy and simulation suites.

The Fertitta College of Medicine's first three classes of students have been using the new building since July. Previously, the first two classes of the medical school used part of the Health 2 Building in the UH Medical District.

The medical school aims to welcome 480 students at full enrollment. Departments within the school include behavioral and social sciences, biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, and health systems and population health sciences.
