The Spotlight ("Hollywood's Oldest Gay Bar - Est 1963") didn't have an alley. It was in the beautiful Marion Building, 1601 Cahuenga at Selma. The space is now AV Nightclub.

That is just SO WRONG! The Spotlight was special and special/horrible. It had the best juke box in Los Angeles and some damn interesting characters hanging out day and night. Of course, one could get murdered out of there with no problem, but that was part of the charm.
