As late as the early 2000s, part of the Valentino fence still existed near the freeway wall. We picked pieces of the wood and put them in our wallets and jokingly referred to them as fragments from the "True Cross." The fence is now completely gone.

I attended one of the Valentino commemoratories in the 1960's at the Hollywood Memorial Park when singer Rudy Vallée spoke. He told how people confused him with Valentino and thought he was the actor who, "sang in silent movies."
