This is one of the most exciting developments in New York. It will be quite beautiful now with the brutalist canyon and yuppie condos to the north, the drop-dead-gorgeous 59th Street Bidge, and now some contemporary bliss in the form of a tech campus that will lead down to Louis Kahn's masterpiece at the tip of the island. I just hope Roosevelt Island retains some of that errie quietness that makes it such a bizarre place. There is something unsettling about visiting a seemingly deserted dreamscape that is merely a few hundred feet from the vibrating thrum of Manhattan that makes it feel both incredibly familiar and completely separate. Even the word "separate" seems inadequate, because it is just soooo different from the rest of the city. Heck it is unlike any other place in this country. I always feel like I'm in a David Lynch movie or a de Chirico painting when Im there.

I love it.
