Berlin Voted World's 'Most Fun' City

As it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Germany’s capital has won ‘most fun’ status in a new survey.

Gathering data from global travel bloggers, tourist offices, seasoned globetrotters and travel websites, the GoEuro report (www.goeuro.com/fun-city-ranking) tipped Berlin over London, Paris and New York.

Among its many charms, the city has the cheapest beer of the top 25 locations ranked (€0.82/$1) and scores highly in concerts, clubs and adult entertainment.

Berlin is also among the ranked cities with no ‘last call’ for drinkers, whereas London and Paris shut their bars at 2.00am and New York calls time at 4.00am, according to the report.

The Big Apple was voted best for activities, while the UK capital has the best clubs and concerts, Tokyo is best for bars and shopping and Moscow the biggest spread of museums.

“Berlin has really boomed in the last five years,” says Pablo Martinez at GoEuro. “When we looked back at the data from 2009, the city was in seventh place, behind London, Paris, New York, Barcelona, Rome and Istanbul.
