I agree this is more typical with regard to how the maps were labeled. But the Sunset labelling was used in some of the city directories, like this one from 1942, listing Plaza Methodist at 125 E Sunset. FWIW, if you go to HistoricAerials.com and look up the area, Marchessault does
looklike an eastward continuation of Sunset and I wouldn't be surprised if that's how many people perceived it.
