In that night shot you can really see how each line of structure follows the path of least resistance creating the curves that gradually all converge together into the ground along the three corner mega columns, visually displaying how the building physically handles the lateral forces of the wind... redirecting it all into the foundation at the most efficient points. The idea of it is inspired by Michell's truss theorem (1904), which analyzes stress value ranges in truss members in comparison with the total weight (and therefore cost) of the structure. Structural optimization then becomes just another thing to add to the list of sustainable features this tower has.
