*Read somewhere that Spenser's may have been a location for a movie featuring Dan Duryea. Tangentially, here is a link to an interesting '46 Noir film, "The Black Angel" featuring Duryea, Lorre and Crawford, Broderick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs4QLHLC--s Notice opening shot of familiar Wilshire Blvd. (yes . . . Gaylord . . . neon).
The picture at the top is Robert's Burbank. I remember going there as a child. My cousins, when they were children, called it the "driveway" as they could not remember "drive-in". The building was later sold, in the 60's, to the Van De Kamps company and they remodeled the round building into one of their windmill designs. I think it may have been another coffee shop after that. The property is now a sort of strip mall with a Chinese restaurant and a Subway sandwich shop among other things. As a lifelong Burbanker, I would have rather had the Robert's drive in.....
