That's only half of the railyard development. The entire development is larger than the WTC redevelopment, and its still just a fraction of the entire Hudson Yards redevelopment. The western railyard is going through this phase now because back when the Hudson Yards zoning was approved, that site was originally planned as a new home and stadium for the JETS. Ironically, these are the same people who fought against building a stadium on that site, and they
believe they won that battle, though in reality they didn't - only costs kept the JETS from building. But it's that
belief that they can stop these things that empowers them. They'll win some, and lose some, but they'll never go away.
