Your average rural conservative American (especially here in Texas) thinks that San Francisco and the Bay Area are a "total shithole" and a complete disaster. Right-wing propaganda has made it a point to constantly trash San Francisco which has contributed to this distorted perception.

Your pictures say otherwise. Not saying the Bay Area doesn't have problems but overall it is incredibly gorgeous and economically vibrant.
