I found a clearer version of most of the photo, and the source identifies the location as "Corner of Lankershim and Magnolia Blvds."

I think this might be the building next to the market - it was built in 1936. The corner lot where the market stood is now empty. One of its neighbors apparently appeared in 'The Karate Kid' according to lamag.com.

If I'm reading the original photo correctly, this is the old Thrifty building.
