A few days ago, I went for a walk in the East Bronx.
I took a ferry from Wall Street to Soundview, then I walked from the ferry terminal to St Lawrence Avenue subway station (a few miles walk), across very suburban neighborhoods with Halloween-decorated homes.
612- The apparently new neighborhood around the Soundview ferry terminal is very bland :

614- But you get some good views of Manhattan skyline from a distance (with Rikers Island prison in the middle ground) :

617- The Whitestone and Throgs Neck Bridges, linking the Bronx to Queens :
618- Planes landing at La Guardia airport fly very low above the neighborhood :
