I must've gone too excited at some fake business news as it sometimes occurs.

Fact is the EU authorities rejected the idea of such a merging and consolidation, just very recently.
It's pissing us French and Germans off, but the EU is obsessed with their continental competition policy, and the Spanish, the British, the Italians and so on are scared of a potential monopoly (thus higher prices to pay for their own local trains).

They didn't realize China is seriously showing up to the industry yet. France and Germany are already aware, that's how we know there wouldn't be any monopoly anyway.
Market is just really global today, but some can't get it yet.

Anyway, now they all know neither the Germans nor the French rule the EU on their own, or the merging would've been approved.
And it's actually super annoying it wasn't.
