All Irish songs and some English/Scottish ones are part of Newfoundland folk music. You will literally find people here who don't know Dirty Old Town isn't about St. John's.

I agree it doesn't fit - BUT I assure you it does to a greater extent than you think. We have a HUGE lower/working class, lots of shitty areas. Several factories sandwiched in old, rowhouse residential districts.
