If you look closely, there is a street sign between the Gilmore lion and the Sunset Deluxe sign.
Shall we take a closer look?
OK, then.

Hrumph, the street sign is still too small to read.
But we do have. . .
Compton.........8
Wilmington.....17
Long Beach....18
So at least we know we're looking south.

We're indeed looking south,
e-r, down the west roadway of Long Beach Ave. at Vernon Ave.
The street sign yielded the name of the cross street when I magnified your original, stuck my face near the screen and squinted really hard.
Looking at the left edge of the original view, we can see that there's an industrial-size incinerator marking the far side of the east roadway; and we can barely make out some rails. The extreme width of the right-of-way between the roadways tells us that this is the PE's "four tracks", which ran in the median of Long Beach Ave.
A quick check in the Googlemobile shows that, other than the former PE right-of-way (now the Metro A Line and a UP secondary freight line), nothing remains of this scene today.
