Ever read My Turn At Bat: The Sad Saga of the Montreal Expos I've only read parts of it. One of the most interesting parts of what I read was in the early 90's when the consortium finally got the money together($85million) to buy the team off Charles Bronfman, they went to Dallas to an MLB owners meeting and presented the sale proposal to the other MLB owners. It was well received by most, except for the owner of the Texas Rangers, George W.Bush. Bush, maybe for the only time in his life said something smart: "It won't work, your deal. I'd like to see it work, but see things as they are. You don't have enough money. You'll be in the red in less than two years".

I laughed when I read that. If it was obvious to Dubya, it should have been obvious to the consortium.
