We can't forget
Arch Rock along the coastline north of Santa Monica near Topanga Canyon.

Eventually a dirt road traveled beneath it. (today that dirt road is Pacific Coast Highway)

"The end came unceremoniously for Arch Rock on the night of March 24, 1906."
"Exactly what happened is unclear, but the next morning the natural bridge that once spanned the arch's two columns was found crumbled on the ground.
Initial reports blamed a rainstorm, but rumors later circulated that works crews constructing a railroad
to Ventura had blasted the rock, performing their nefarious deed under the cloak of darkness because of public affection for the landmark.
The railroad was never completed, but some of the grading work was later incorporated into the coast highway."
This view was taken shortly after the Arch Rock collapse.

Today, the Rock Arch site is the location of the Chart House restaurant. (I'm not sure why it says Mastro's Ocean Club on the aerial...recent name change?)
