The ESB is so massive it still (and will for some time) dominate the skyline even when it falls of the top 10. It along with 1WTC are the first buildings you notice when you approach Manhattan.
My wife went and I had a beer in the basement of the ESB a few weeks ago and then walked over to 432 Park Ave and there was simply no comparison in the sheer size and scale of these buildings despite a few hundred foot difference with the latter.
