They can be horrified all they want, but Houston is a sprawled out multi-nodal city with crap transit which means freeways are pretty much the
only viable option. Hopefully, in the long term, Houston will be significantly more densely populated (it's already moving in this direction), heavily invested in transit and lessened its dependence on cars but we'll all be dead by then.
