This image just screamed San Gabriel Valley or Pomona Valley to me. At first I thought it might be Foothill Blvd. between Claremont and Upland. But then I had an "A-ha!" moment and deduced the name of the motel as "Oak Park." Quick google and voila! It's Huntington Drive in Monrovia, and that cool motel sign is still there! The cars made me think 1950s, but the motel has a Bankamericard sign, so that makes c.1960 a better guess. Or maybe even a couple years later. Those road signs we can see the backs of here are definitely 1960s vintage, and they look pretty new here.

e_r: Did this seller have other slides with similar scenes? I'd be interested to see if they had other SGV images that were closer to home for me (Covina area).

Here is the site today....notice a lot less smog. I read a few reviews for this motel. Not sure I would want to stay there. I'd prefer the Bates Motel any day.
