STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Work continued on New York City’s revitalization efforts along the North Shore Thursday, as Mayor Eric Adams’ administration began its search for a developer to bring more than 500 units of housing to the Stapleton waterfront.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), led by President and CEO Andrew Kimball, published a request for proposals (RFP) to develop a portion of the old Stapleton Homeport into housing, as part of the Adams administration’s North Shore Action Plan.

Hundreds of construction and long-term jobs to be added to Staten Island shipping terminal as new tenant invests $200M+

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The shipping terminal at Howland Hook will see more than $200 million in investments thanks to a new tenant who took over the site at the end of last month, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.

Gov. Kathy Hochul will announce the $200-$300 million investment from French shipping company, CMA CGM, during a press conference later Tuesday at her Manhattan office, but her office shared information with the Advance/SILive.com about the deal that officials believe will bring the terminal in-line with some of the top port sites around the nation.

The investment, the largest in Howland Hook’s history, will fund reconstruction and rehabilitation of wharves and ship berths, as well as upgrades to cargo handling equipment and expansion of yard capacity, according to the governor’s office.
