AUSTIN | Hyatt House | 120 FEET | 11 FLOORS | COMPLETE

I don't recall this project being mentioned before. But a site plan (with no specifics) was filed today for a Hyatt House hotel at 901 Neches. It's right across the street from Hotel Indigo:

Here's the lot across the street from Hotel Indigo where the Hyatt House would be built. These two hotels should help the music venues at that end of Red River:

That was the site of a failed condominium project called The Orsay. Glad something is taking its place.

OK. I didn't realize that was the location of the Orsay.

I looked around the web for images of Hyatt House hotels. It looks like we could be seeing another Hyatt Place with the word "House" substitutes for "Place" on the signage.

If it looks anything similar to the one in Charlotte, then I'll be happy.

That would be great. I'm just happy that area of Downtown is getting developed. In its current state it has to be the worst part of Downtown.

JoninATX Aug 9, 2014 6:30 AM

True, there is not much development in that area right now, I can see it taking off rather soon.

More detailed information about the downtown Hyatt House hotel has been filed with the city. This is the one at 901 Neches St next to the Hotel Indigo/Holiday Inn Express. Hyatt House will be 10 stories with 189 rooms. That info is on the last page of the attachment.

That's good news. Those two hotels are really going to help that area.

My thoughts exactly. I'm just sitting at home today combing through building permits. What a nerd. What I'm really waiting for is the Aloft Hotel vote. It should be happening right about now. Here's the link to the City Councils voting activity today. It's item 114.

Good for the area indeed. The Hyatt will replace an existing surface parking lot which is a very good thing. Hotel guests will have interesting views of the activities that happen around ARCH.

The Capital view determination at 711 trinity is also interesting. The whole block is a surface parking lot and the CVC covers only a small portion of that entire block. Hope to see something nice go there.

austlar1 Sep 25, 2014 8:25 PM

901 Neches does not really overlook the ARCH. It is two blocks away up on the hill across the street and just above the site of the Indigo project. Ten stories at that elevation might look rather imposing. Hope so.

It might be time to start a new thread for the Hyatt House?

Development plans were released today. It's a big resource hogging PDF, but the elevations are missing. Plenty of info about waterlines though... One of the files does give a 02/01/15 date for the start of construction.

Really short article, not much detail. Below are quotes and the map from the article. http://www.statesman.com/news/busine...2-more-/nh2GQ/

The latest two projects – a 10-story Hyatt House hotel slated for downtown and a Home2 Suites near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport – will make almost 300 more rooms available to out-of-towners once completed.

The Hyatt House hotel is planned to rise 10 stories at 901 Neches St. in downtown Austin, according to permit applications making their way through the city’s review process. It will have 189 rooms and a 139-space parking garage.

I noticed that the site plan does have a height listed. Page 5 says the maximum height from grade is 100'. There are also four underground parking levels.

The Design Commission has a ridiculous amount of renderings of the Hyatt House Hotel going up across the street from Hotel Indigo. Construction is set to begin in June. Here are three of the renderings.

From the same link above. Anyone hanging out at the pool won't have to worry about that hot afternoon Texas sun. They won't even see it.

I'm all for it as it will add infill. But why can't someone put windows on the back side?
