PHOENIX | The Link | ? FT | 30 FLOORS

A new apartment tower is going up in Phoenix and just broke ground. I'm not sure of the height as there has been no official word but the building is 30 floors high.

YESSSS, thank god, Pheonix is an excellent city for density despite its complete lack of such. So happy to see this development break ground.

Nice! This is a short distance from the core, but looks like it is between the core and Roosevelt which makes sense. If this can do well, hopefully it will encourage more development of a similar nature.

This project has already begun and a crane is being installed now as I type so this should be moved to the under construction section.

Catherine Reagor, The Republic | azcentral.com Published 5:25 p.m. MT Oct. 25, 2017 | Updated 5:31 p.m. MT Oct. 25, 2017

Construction has started on a 30-story apartment tower called the Link Phx that will add to downtown Phoenix’s growing skyline.

The high-rise, going up on the northeast corner of Third and Pierce streets, will bring 257 apartments and 7,000 square feet of retail space to the area in August 2019.

This apartment is part of a what is envisioned as a 3 tower project. Things are looking good so far and it seems like work might begin on tower 2 (19 stories) within the year. Downtown Phoenix is on a roll this year and many towers are about to break ground so I'm very positive this entire project will come through.

Here's the original proposal

I just hope that this latest round of towers serves to set a precedent for the city so that high-rise residential begins to become more common in the city core of Phoenix. This way, they can begin to slow and mitigate some of the outward sprawl as the city continues to grow, and hopefully grow more in step with its expanding transit system.

Believe me that high rise residential is becoming hot in Phoenix and in it's suburb of Tempe. Both cities are thriving from it and more and more people are heading into it's downtowns to live. There is going to be a Kroger's (known as Fry's in AZ) grocery store in downtown Phoenix in a huge project that will have office and residential. That thought would have seemed ridiculous 10 years ago but it's under construction right now. I think the leaders of the city have finally got their heads screwed on right for once.

Glass is now being installed.
