Interesting tidbit in common council kit is the economic development agency is entering a month to month lease in the city market tower on Charlotte St - giving credibility to suggestion they may occupy space in Percy Wilbur’s new King’s Square high rise

Shockingly for a Saint John development, it actually looks completely fine. I’m mostly kidding but we have a lot of recent history of buildings looking disappointing once they get built but this one looks every bit as good as the proposal made it sound. Gives me a lot of optimism for the head of King Street since it’s the same developer.

I expect King St project be look nicer as it’s designed by firm Murdoch + Boyd (firm that designed the law courts)

CBC news reporting the King St project will be 12 stories - better than I expected.

Most exciting part is it will be designed by Murdock Boyd and will be red brick and sandstone.

90 apartments, grocery store (hopefully), offices, 2 floors underground parking

Shovels on ground by summer and well under way by fall

With the incline of King St, this building will sit very tall in comparison to the cluster of buildings at foot of King St, Market Sq

Was hoping to see some movement on this one, but nothing yet. Shovels in the ground by summer so it says, but not even a rendering released as of yet. I know things take time but the anticipation is killing me lol.

Same feeling here - it will be worth the wait though. Being designed by Murdoch Boyd I’m confident it will be the nicest apartment building in NB. Seems like most new renderings in province are from Spitfire and are just a variation of the same design.

Im told the alleyway between the building and the market with feature wrought Iron (imiatation?) Gates for closure during public events.

According to the following news report, 91 King Street will be 14-stories not 12.

I think they may be counting the underground parking. The article states one floor potential grocery store, two floors office and nine residential.

Seems as though the Huddle/CHSJ articles got updated after their initial publication with the additional information. From the article:

Quote:

The developer hopes to begin the 14-storey build with a few levels of underground parking, topped by a commercial retail space that has been earmarked for a long-awaited uptown grocery store.

Above the potential grocery store would be two floors of office space, and then nine residential floors totaling 93 apartment units.
Renderings when :frog:

cdnguys May 5, 2021 12:48 AM

With the incline of King St it will probably be 12 floors on Charlotte and 14 on King
The Wentworth has 2 floors of parking but only 1 is underground. I assume same on new project. At least it may reach same height as Irving

I’m willing to wager the first Fundy Quay building is 25 stories :)
Developer did say first building would be $50m

Apparently we just had to tune into CTV!!! Not a very polished render but the following was featured in their news segment:

I count 12 floors above the Charlotte Street grade.

I hope I’m wrong, but that figure may be including the two underground stories.

Main takeaways from my interview with Percy Wilbur, the developer behind demolition of 91 King:

-no tenant yet
-85/87 King also coming down
-Taste of Egypt moving to East Point
-South Market St. to close to traffic
-construction = 2+ years
-"always a chance" it may not go ahead

Looks like workers spent the week prepping the area around the building. Likely we’ll see demolition starting Monday.
