Malec's stuff!

3 new diagrams.
They're not made normally since they're just renders of sketchup 3D models.
Any advice on lightling, colours, etc?
I know how to make good sketchup models but haven't a clue about diagrams so some help would be nice :)
All taken from my dubai 3d model

Nice idea to use Sketchup for the drawings, these are excellent. Dubai could really use more people who draw buildings for it.

Excellent and improved coloring.

Though, I'd advise against using black outlines on drawings such as the outlines of the 23 Marina, and the outlining of the roof of the Princess Tower. The same effect can be accomplished through shadowing. I'd also say to use more shadowing, all around, to make the facades 'pop' more. For instance, particularly the bases on the first two, they look very flat. The same can be said of the windows, in general. Darker shadowing can really give and impressive 3D effect missing on many of these. If his were the correct height, I'd have given it the primary.

Are these better?

AAAARRRRRG!!!! Why's the black still there, even though I turned the edges off :(
I'll try and upload better ones tomorrow

I do like those better, but it's up to you. I was only offering my critique. In the end, it's your drawing style, and if it includes outlining, I guess that's your style. But, for some reasons, now, the drawing of the princess tower is not as sharp as it was. The crown got really messy and undefined after whatever changes you made to it were preformed.

@Malec, they are 100% perfect to me. I prefer the older versions as is more clear the differences and sharper forms. The Rendering in first ones is clear and not blurred as the second version. I prefer the result before. It is a personal oppinion. You must do what better you like. Top Renderings. Btw do you want to make the Sirius Millenium Tower in Sketchup? If you do send me the File Model to my Messeger. It is in my website lower.   :notacrook:

The crown is excellent! But, much of the rest of the drawing is rather under-developed, especially the area right beneath the crown and the windows. A little more attention to the detail of the actual tower would go a long way in making the entire drawing of excellent quality.

That looks great! But what building is it?

It's probably just the shadows weren't in the best of places. Here's another diagram which should be better. Also the renders of this tower (very crappy btw) show the part near the top blank like that.
I didn't realise my last diagram was too short. What happens is the very tip always gets chopped off when resizing.

Here's another diagram that should be better:

Both of those are excellent drawings, Malec! You've improved quite a bit.

malec May 19, 2007 8:48 AM

^^ Well they not really drawings as such, just renders from a 3D program so all it involves to make them better are some better shadow angles, etc.

LMich May 19, 2007 9:03 AM

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. What program are you using?

malec May 19, 2007 10:34 AM

I'm using sketchup. All these towers were made in 3D first, then I just turned off perspective and made a few renders, resized them, etc.

In fact here's the thread to for it:

The reason why all my models so far come from dubai marina is because I'm making this model of it at the moment.

Hmm, am not entirely happy with this diagram. The completely different style to the other towers makes it harder to create a good diagram out of the 3D model. This one's all glass which makes it harder to get the details.
Will try some more renders maybe later or tomorrow.

M.K. May 21, 2007 12:18 PM

For me they are perfect and using Sketchup is quite good having a 3D in different angles. Good job. Keep doing. :previous: Even the above tower is top designed by you. I liked a lot and considering the height more than 500m, its design for Marina Area is also TOP one. You did well. Nice. :bowtie:
if you like doing my Sirius Millenium tower in 3D, please see it www.siriusmillenium.com in section Services. ;)

All that the Pentominium needs is some shading (and a sharpen filter):

ie:

That should bring yr details out.
