My family visited Marineland back in the early 1970s. (after much begging, my father took me up in the revolving tower even though the fog was thick as pea soup) We didn't see a thing..but I loved it anyway.
Anyhoo...The eBay slide, shown below, shows a rather impressive Marineland Restaurant. [c.1963] https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/vooRFT.jpg eBay I had no idea there was a Marineland Restaurant. (of course there's the possibility it was shrouded in fog the day I was there) Does anyone who visited Marineland remember eating at this restaurant? Here's a closer look at the place. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...921/iMQdXg.jpg DETAIL Impressive looking place. Maybe it was located some distance from the park's main attractions  ...say, off to one side. . |

A friend of mine visiting Los Angeles (I believe it was 1986) took this photo of me driving around pointing out the various sights. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/XafmB9.jpg ethereal_reality personal collection I've often wondered where we were when she snapped this photo. There's only one, rather shitty, clue. The building on the corner has a rounded facade. Go minions! :whip: FYI:...I don't think I was actually pointing at anything specific in the photo. If I remember correctly, she was making fun of me for pointing at virtually everything we passed...so I posed with a fake point. . |

Maybe...another clue. That building seems to have sort of a painted banner of numbers on it. The one on the right looks like 99. (99 cents store?) The other one is partially obscured by the lamp post, is it also 99? Or maybe it's counting up like 98 - 99... ...for what it's worth. |

I'm going to say that's the (now former) 99 Cents store at the NE corner of La Tijera and Knowlton. Could you have been on your way to LAX, e_r? The two-light signal next to your index finger is still there today. https://i1165.photobucket.com/albums...psj1j4ubxz.jpg Aug 2012 GSV |

The palm tree's growth is right for this being the same location after this passage of time! |

Daily Breeze Never been to that restaurant [but I did visit Marineland one time]. Photos of the interior seem to say they featured large groups of people. You can see the place in the photo above....at the upper right. LA has a long history of nature attractions. Remember the alligators, lions, monkeys, ostriches, deers, wild African animals....oy vey. |

I always wonder what's listed to eat on the Marineland restaurant menu. The 1960 Menu features lots of fish and other seafood. Link2:

I found this slide (in a group of slides) from 1966 that I believe was taken by a tourist going up in the Marineland Sky Tower.
I think this might be the Marineland Restaurant. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...922/Mnpv5M.jpg EBAY - found several years ago As a reminder, here is the slide of the Marineland Restaurant that I posted a few days ago. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...921/iMQdXg.jpg I'm pretty sure this is the same place. courtesy of CBD https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/8...921/hI58Wx.jpg Is it just me, or does it seems strange to eat seafood at an aquarium? . |
