NEW YORK | Aerial Heaven
Been posting New York aerials in other threads, but thought it would be nice to just see a compilation of New York aerials. Some are obviously dated, but great anyway.

A set from skylinescenes

I wish I could just drop everything here and just move there, the only reason Im staying in college is just to appease my family. If it were up to me and didnt have a family or whatever, Id move to NYC in a heartbeat, even if I just had to get a minumum wage job working at a coffee shop. Whatever, as long as I had enough money to fix my bike and pay for a crappy apartment in Queens or something, that would be awesome.

This is what a city looks like:

Also, question: Was this whole west side development done by Trump? I know he had planned on developing it but I haven't been paying attention for the last few years.

yankeesfan1000 Nov 7, 2010 6:05 PM

This is my favorite thread in internet history.

And yeah all those buildings along the West Side Highway are Trump, and at the far right that empty patch is where the Riverside South Development will hopefully rise soon.

^ It's a slice of heaven...;)

The last 2 or 3 are from Gary Barnet/Extell Development. Trump sued his former partners who sold the rest of the development to Barnett.

Barnett is currently nearing approval for the final stage of development there...

I'm a pretty jaded New Yorker but this shot is pretty humbling. We really do live in a forest of skyscrapers.

The Trump buildings do look really nice, it's an interesting block for sure.

Central Park today
Gawker posted this photo today of Central Park and the Upper East/West Sides. The photograph is by Bruce Bennett.

Check out the stark contrast between the East Harlem Berlin Wall of PJ's and its affluent southern neighbors.

Cirrus Nov 10, 2010 11:07 PM

Merged tdawg's thread with the Gawker picture into this thread. /mod

Man I love this thread! Find myself coming back to it time after time... Exploring each picture, as if it were the first time I'd seen it.

That last set is incredible. I love the city before the cold, indifferent hand of modernism takes hold. Pre-modernist glass box downtown was the most elegant skyline anywhere, anytime.

New York City is known as the “city that never sleeps” but today you’re going to know it as the city that will take your breath away. These stunning pictures taken by Yann Arthus Bertrand showcase the city’s beautiful landscape as seen from up in the air.
check it out! some fantastic shots there, 168 in total.
