I did, thank you.

Fantastic. I love old photos of cities. Those aerials from 1935 were especially cool.

I had no idea there used to be a spire up there. Part of it is still there isn't it, but not as tall?

Thanks, I love seeing old pictures like this. A mighty beast of a city.

simms3_redux Jan 6, 2011 1:35 AM

Very very dense.

ethereal_reality Jan 6, 2011 1:39 AM

Great vintage photos.

Thanks for posting them ColDayMan.

Yes, half the spire is there (the flat section). It's a shame because I prefer the old spire.

What a city!

Centropolis Jan 6, 2011 6:32 AM

That's some serious ass 19th century urban fabric. Thanks for sharing. Cincy is kinda all mystical and mysterious to me, even though my city is a cousin - the more I see on here the betta.

Another salvo in the 2011 Queen City invasion on SSP! Well done, Chris. And you’re welcome! ;)

Hows the city doing population wise, just looked at the population trends and it looks like the city is still losing tons and tons of people. From 1990-2000 the city lost 10% of its population and since 1950 looks like its lost nearly 170,000 people. Maybe, like STL its gained some population back since 2000, I hope so.

ColDayMan Jan 13, 2011 6:02 AM

Cincinnati gained in population about 4,000ish residents (probably more, in reality) between 2000-2010. Not booming but it's a good sign for a very old major city.

Right after I got out of the Air Force I was taking a test for a job I wanted. One of the questions was how to spell Cincinnati. I freaked out and left the room. How hard was that test gonna be???

Thundertubs Jan 18, 2011 5:26 AM

WOW. Cincinnati is great nowadays, but boy did it de-citify itself pretty hard. The old West End is intense.

Stunning and tragic thread.

Does Ohio have a "Dominant" City?

Is there agreement among Ohioans of the #1 city? Is it Cincy, Cleveland or Columbus? Columbus seems to be gaining in recent decades. The state capitol & state U. advantage I guess, plus central location.
