hkskyline's 2019 hunting fall colours in the Greater Toronto Area

Fall is a great time to visit Toronto. Around early to mid-October, the foliage frenzy is everywhere. You don't need to go far to find a quiet spot to enjoy the colours. The Glen Stewart Ravine near the Beaches is a short walk just off the streetcar line on Queen Street for a lovely taster.

The crowds tend to hover around High Park, an exceptionally famous foliage spot in the fall, and for cherry blossoms in the spring as well.

Venturing outside the city, you won't see a shortage of crowds despite a long drive outside the 416 boundary. Located an hour west of Toronto in Hamilton, Spencer Gorge Conservation Area is home to both waterfalls and a beautiful gorge lit up by foliage. During peak season, park authorities have arranged buses to bring visitors into the park.

Tell me, when were these wonderful photos taken? I've been dreaming of visiting Canada for a long time, my friend moved there after marriage. I really want to watch such a beauty there. But I'm afraid that at this time all the leaves have already fallen...

Nice pictures! I was wondering if you got to Spencer Gorge.

I still vividly remember being a kid from Texas with a view something like this out my 8th grade classroom windows after we had moved to a Toronto suburb in the early 70s.
The trees were more densely packed by my school but the colors were the same.

Beautiful photos! Thank you for posting them!

The Evergreen Brickworks in the Don Valley is a good place to view the skyline framed against some colours.

Heading north of the city, Lake Wilcox is a quiet community park although development is creeping around all corners.

Fantastic colorful set. I'll have to check out Toronto in the fall.

Huntsville is a good spot to view the fall colours. I had thought I was too late in the season, but a good surprise emerged.

Plenty of cheap casino buses also make their way from various points in the city to Niagara Falls. After enjoying some time gambling my life away, I walked out to see a less colourful landscape than points further north even though I came a week after Huntsville.

Almost a year later, I'm still processing my photo backlog from 2019, although nearing completion.

Mono Cliffs is part of the Bruce Trail and is about 100km from downtown Toronto. As its name suggests, the cliffs offer a good setting to view the foliage around them. Luckily, it wasn't as crowded as Dundas Peak further west in Hamilton.
