I saw a picture of that building that H&M is going into, that should be fantastic

Very jealous, Winnipeg is getting it's 2nd H&M but it will be inside a mall like our first in Polo Park is.

I really hope they will have some good sized signage for daytime and nighttime visual for the former Havik building. Some video boards would be nice to get that area looking like a mini time square :)!

Here is the recently re-designed new flagship store at Toronto Eaton Centre for reference:

http://cdn.strategyonline.ca/wp/wp-c...9884.jpg?w=640

I wonder what they will do with this:

Would also be nice for the mall to get new vertical signage for Sears, The Bay and their name, something that stands out and maybe lights up.

It's come a long way:

I'll take H&M over Only Deals any day!

Sorry, I don't know how to post this picture, so the link is below. It's of the 48-story 4 Times Square building in Manhattan, where H&M has a large multi-level store. I doubt they would do something like this on the SGI or SaskTel buildings, but you can see they really like to promote their name!

Obviously H&M cannot cover the façade of a heritage building but there are some very large windows on 11th and they could put signage on the roof. You will note that Havik had a number of attractive vertical banner signs as well.

Nothing too exciting:

I also noticed that demo had started in the former Smitty's and the stores north of Telus on the second level appear to already be demoed

I don't know if it's temporary, signed Telus does have signage on the old Danier spot, but there appears to be a Telus kiosk being put up (behind curtains) right next too H&B.

Telus is going in Danier spot. Kiosk is temporary, as Telus' storefront closed today.

Is there any space left above Hudsons Bay that maybe a Goodlife could go in? I'm trying to think where would have a large enough spot for them. Not sure about the square footage but if Marlin moved, how many square feet would be free for a gym on the main level across from Sasktel?

one_brick_at_a_time Feb 16, 2017 12:20 AM

Also the 20vic new website mentions "Opening this spring" Saje and MAC Cosmetics.

BrannyMuffin Feb 16, 2017 12:45 AM

I can't post from my phone, but if you go to the 20 VIC website and look at the floor plan you can see the footprint of H&M. It looks like there are 2 new (small) CRUs on the 2nd floor, as well as a new skylight. Not everything is updated on there though. It still has Metalsmiths and Aldo Accessories, for example.

3sHealth occupies all the space above the bay.

I don't think that the mall would want a gym in any of their prime retail spaces as they pay lower rent.

In total, there's still only like 3000 s.f. for a gym.

Actually, that's pretty funny at the 20Vic site straight up says H&M on it when they refuse to announce it.

Haha, yeah I noticed that too. Thanks for posting!

Stormer Feb 16, 2017 3:06 AM

At 25,500 sf that is a huge H&M.

Stormer Feb 16, 2017 3:12 AM

They are relocating the alley pedway to the RBC Building to the north.

one_brick_at_a_time Feb 16, 2017 7:37 AM

Looking at the updated floor plan, I just wish they would purchase the main floor of the Sasktel tower and then put stores there. Then they would have space for proper north side large floor plate tenants to make that side active.

Also did someone mention the Cornwall Building being demolished? Will that be a project once this H&M renovation is complete?

Scruff Bucket Feb 16, 2017 8:53 AM

Nice find, BrannyMuffin!

Am I reading correctly, or is there no main entrance to the mall on the second level? Looks like only a small entry way to a service corridor. Unless these floor plans are so preliminary that they just didn't show it, while the tenant develops their floor layout.

My wife will be so happy ... Oh, No-o-o-o! Spending spree on clothes for the kids!

eHealth Saskatchewan occupies the whole level above Hudson's Bay so there's no available area up there.

The demo of the office building is on their wish list. I assume it will depend on future leasing.

Yes the connection to RBC will be pretty much just a utility corridor. On the plus side, the pedway will now line up with the pedway to the Alvin Hamilton Building.

I'm guessing Saje will go in one of the new CRU spots?

They will have for Vacancies: across from Sasktel, HMV's spot probably come April, the space next to Below the Belt. I wonder what they will have planned. Also, how has Claire's lasted so long in that one spot?

I am also so happy about the new planned skylight for the food court. It's so dark in that area. Plus I would love for them to in the end repaint the ceiling brighter or get rid of the popcorn ceiling all together for something more modern and bright.

The source moved there. According to the floorplans though, they have the source where Papyrus is and no new location for Papyrus as far as I can see. Not sure if anything is to be read into that though...

Space across from SaskTel isn't vacant. Cornwall Security moved into it last month. Doesn't look like a temporary relocation.

Hah! The documents are still in the site's file directory (I went back to them in my internet history), but they have removed the link/preview image on the Cornwall Centre page. :haha:

I swear I saw somewhere that it was a temporary relocation for renos. Maybe on the door of the old office? I can't imagine security needs 2500 sq ft.

Additionally this only reinforces that the news uses this forum as a source. They've run other stories based on the GTH threads, etc.

Its great news for Regina all we need now is the new condo tower announced

BrannyMuffin Feb 17, 2017 3:56 PM

Looks like they made an official announcement...
Quote:

Retail chain H&M is opening its first store in Saskatchewan at the Cornwall Centre in Regina according to a news release from the chain.

The store is set to open in 2018.

“We are thrilled to announce our upcoming opening in Regina as part of our continued expansion in the Canadian market. We have been waiting for a great location in Saskatchewan and are very happy to have finally found one.” says Toni Galli, country manager of H&M Canada...

Metalsmiths is staying where they are. They had signs up that they were closing for renovations. Not sure how they afford to stay in a space but that seems to be what is happening. Could be the same for Aldo Accessories but wouldn't be surprised to see them gone.

Papyrus is closing according to workers in the store, The Source will be moving back upstairs into that spot.

Besides the excitement of H&M itself, I am extremely excited for the domino effect regarding the properties around this retail addition downtown that will experience the extra draw of customers from the city and Province to the Cornwall Centre and Regina's downtown. It won't take long for a tenant to take the former Bryan's location plus anywhere in the near vacinity of H&M. This is huge for downtown. ❤

I also wouldn't be surprised if there isn't going to be mall access (as shown on the floor plan so far) from the 2nd Floor regarding theft as that is always an issue at the Cornwall Centre.

Would be nice to have an Indigo Spirit or "Chapter's Spirit" at the Cornwall Centre as I miss having a book store option.

Calgary's Chinook Centre has a two-story H&M that only has main-floor access, so I can envision something similar. Big second-floor windows overlooking a big open courtyard area.

Based on the floorplans, they clearly will have second floor access and why wouldn't you want that in two level mall. There is the small issue of the heritage façade inside the mall.

If they renovate their concessions, as well as update their theatres I am actually ok with this. It's not much difference for southwest residents to travel from Harbour Landing to Southland and if they lost the Cineplex, it would spell bad news for the mall. I'd really like to see things continue to improve there. Was just in Saskatoon and their malls are clearly better than ours. Lawson Heights and Centre Mall are much superior to Regina's second and third malls. Hopefully H & M will help bring more retailers of the calibre that Midtown Plaza has.

Stormer Feb 17, 2017 7:50 PM

The vacant Bryan's space next to H&M should get leased up easily.
