These are a tough ground cover that my family utilized alot at our Granada Hills place-- Believe they're Shasta Daisies--

How odd to see a German postcard of a Dutch bakery in the USA! Great picture BTW.

Daisies
 

Actually, they are African Daisies. They are also called "Freeway Daisies" because they are a staple planting along banks of freeways. The yellow form, which these appear to be, are very hardy and once they are put in, you cannot get rid of them. They live in low water conditions and spread prolifically.

A Shasta Daisy is a taller plant, two and a half feet or so, with the flowers on long stems

While the photo indicates 1934 (probably the publication date), the LAPL dates this same shot as actually having been taken on Dec 31, 1933. The library also has the wider view below; both are noted as being West Adams Blvd. Based and the width and the lamps, this would be toward Culver City. Don't think I've ever seen the unusual STOP sign or light....

The upper direction sign attached to the lamp post seems to say:

<- Los Angeles
Beverly Hills 4 ->
West Hollywood 6 ->
Hollywood 7 ->

...which would make a Culver City-ish location possible, looking at the overlapping circles.
