Well I'm not sure the Amazon effect has anything to do with EB games. Buying video games has evolved just like renting movies. You can download them on all platforms now.

Kohl's department store in the US has come up with a brilliant idea, which has really turned things around for the chain. They now are accepting Amazon returns in their stores.! I'm not sure exactly how it works, but just think of all the new bodies they are getting through the doors.

Someone butchered the quotes so I can't follow the conversation anymore. Does anyone here fix that stuff?

They are not quite done yet. Still some tiling and other work to do. They have fully replaced the furniture in the food court.

I will take a few pictures of the place for you once I see the floor is complete, I am through there several times a week.

Other than some tiling around entrances to businesses it seems most of the tile is in. I'm not sure what the plan is for grouting the tile though.

I don't like the new furniture as it seems jammed in to any space they could find but I guess that means there's more seating for those days when it's really busy.

I hope the new furniture is more modern than the previous and away with the browns and darkness.

The furniture is definitely brighter but like I said it just seems stuck in there with not much planning.

That's a lot of rent to pay for kids to play in...

Marshalls (Prince of Wales/Quance) was set to open April 09.

It's basically what the Rec Room is in Edmonton. Kid friendly, but very much geared towards adults.

There's also "Baller's Rec Room" on Dewdney.

Thanks for the pictures!

This renovation is definitely a step in the right direction. Here’s hoping the Cornwall continues to make progress and develop. I hope the Sears location gets a quality makeover inside and out.

Thanks, Tyler19944! At least now with the mall looking more bright and modern, hopefully that should help with more interest in the vacant spaces and the rest of the property redevelopment. Fingers crossed.

I was at Costco today and it was crazy busy as usual. I’m used to it but I heard another customer talking about how they are from Saskatoon and that the Costcos there are not as busy. Makes sense for a city with one vs two locations but I’m starting to believe we will get a second location ourselves sooner than later.

CoryB Jun 3, 2019 3:57 PM

For perspective on a possible Costco expansion in Regina - Winnipeg had rumors of a new store for 5+ years. Planning documents to the Winnipeg city council went in about 6 months ago. Construction has yet to start. Looks like a 2+ year timeline from when the site approvals start to opening of doors.

In Winnipeg there is talk that the store we know is in site approval stage is the first of a three store plan. There is speculation on the second site. The story that goes around is once the second new store opens one of the original Winnipeg stores, on a now undersized site with poor access, will convert from a traditional Costco store to a "business centre".

All told those plans likely cover the next five years.

Something that I'm sure was considered in Saskatoon's business plan was their horrible network of streets and how long it takes to get across the city. One location probably wouldn't have worked there just due to people not willing to take the time to travel across town.

Regina comparatively has decently straight and free-flowing roads with an effective Ring road and a new full city bypass to get people to the east Costco. A second location here isn't as necessary.

jigglysquishy Jun 3, 2019 7:59 PM

Costco is 100% planning their second location and has been eyeing Rochdale/the Bypass. It's still 5-10 years out, but Costco plays the long game.
