NEW YORK | 30 Rockefeller Plaza | 850' Roof | 70 FLOORS | 1933
The Focal point of Rockefeller Center and a true New York Landmark. one of the most beautiful art-deco skyscrapers in history and Rockefeller finished it in the midst of the Great Depression. Still as beautiful today as it was upon its completion in 1933.

Great building, but General Electric had nothing to do with building it.
|
^ The building was put up by Rockerfeller. But GE brands it now, and before that RCA. RCA in turn almost located in the wholly different General Electric Building on Lexington (another Deco stunner), but breached to move here instead.
|
srry i forgot about that
|
I'm fairly sure GE holds some offices in there, but I could be wrong. I know they have most of their headquarter operations in Connecticut.
Beautiful building. For whatever reason when I was a kid I thought it was the Empire State Building. |
The view from the top is the best in the city IMHO.

Though I still need to go to the top of the needle in the ESB, I didn't know you could actually do that when I went there last time. |
Gorgeous. When I visited last (1994), the obs deck was closed; you had to make reservations for the Rainbow Room.

:previous: honestly, i like the top of the rock observation deck more than the ESB's. there are a few reasons as:
- you can actually see the ESB - great view of central park - no safety net, only transparent, clear glas - far better when taking pics - in the middle of the skyscraper jungle - no lines, compared to the ESB you don't have to wait at all - ... |
