CALGARY | Guardian | 469FT | 41 FLOORS

The building has been built up to the second floor and has been on hold for some time due to the original developer being in receivership. New owners have purchased the development and apparently this tower is close to starting construction.

Can't wait to see this one go ahead, that site has been stalled for far too long.

This thing suffers from acute balcony disease, but I like the black window mullions.

Calgary is entering a nice little residential boom, isn't it?

It seems like another residential tower boom. Rumors are that these will be going ahead soon.

From the Calgary thread. This is where the site stands today. Recently there have been construction workers on site and some activity. Word is that they are working on a BP, just straightening out some details.

Nice to see some tallish residential going up in Calgary.

Duck From NY Oct 9, 2012 7:44 PM

Pretty excellent design for a residential with so many balconies.

TallBob Oct 10, 2012 5:54 AM

It'll be be nice to see a 40+ story residential going up in Calgary! Hope it starts a trend for some taller developement.

Not the best looking tower but definitely a plus when it comes to size!
But dont let that fool you for too long. Calgarians should care for their architecture and quality of living so dont just let height determine whether a building is a positive or not. If you do, then developers will pick for a quick cheap condo that maximizes revenue and does nothing for the city in value and architecture. Too many of these types of developers are in Toronto.

Agreed. while a few tall suckers like this one are good for the skyline, low rise mixed use with good street treatment is what I would rather see most of the time.

The rising cost of land in some of the areas close to the DT, Beltline ect. will dictate in large part how small or large projects get. I think a nice mix is good, but you can't/should'nt have low-rise/low-density in areas that should be high-rise/high-density.

Maybe they will actually resume construction on this thing just in time for the world to end!!!

Building permit has been issued for this. Since the base is already done, this one should be off to the construction page as soon as a crane arrives.

44 stories or 41? I hope this baby gets going! I like the stone work on the building (left of site). Wish Calgary had more of the Old historic buildings.
