A fascinating and beautiful part of the world.

Great photos, thank you for posting. The Balkans certainly do look fascinating. I am interested in the parts of the world where several different civilizations merge-- Western Europe, Islam, and Slavic. I read an excellent book several years ago, "Eastward to Tartary," about travels through this part of the world.

Some may grunt about the fact that Croatia surely can't remain as affordable as it used to be, when I was little.

It's kind of like Malta, turning a major Mediterranean tourist hub like the French and Italian Rivieras, so it will go higher-end to make better revenues of tourism, which is quite understandable, right?

Their coastline is super quaint and charming with historic towns and villages. It's been a destination favored by the Germans, the French and all in the summer, when weather and the sea are warm and comfy...
It just can't go any other way.

Damn, your sense of composition is gorgeous. And my fave corner of the world. :)

By the way, in the centre of your photo, that little mushroom-shaped thing with the green roof, that's Sebilj fountain. The legend in Sarajevo is that if you drink from it once while visiting, your life will bring you back to the city.

did they steal that you’ll come back schtick from trevi fountain in rome?

or vice versa?

who knows?
:D

The answer to these sorts of questions is ALWAYS "some village in Iraq." :haha:

Thanks geomorph! Our driver talked us into crossing a busy highway and crouching down by a guardrail for this shot. Between the steep drop-off and the traffic flying by it felt entirely unsafe. I'm happy about the photo though and it served as a good enough substitute for taking the cable car while we were there.
