Amegy Bank buys Galleria-area land to build new headquarters

Amegy Bank N.A. said March 27 it bought a 4-acre site just inside the 610 Loop near the Galleria to build its new Houston corporate headquarters.

The site, 1717 W. Loop South, currently houses Micro Center. The computer and electronics retailer will remain at its current site until it opens a new location near the 610 Loop and Highway 59 Southwest Freeway interchange later this year.

Construction on Amegy's new 350,000-square-foot building is expected to begin early next year and conclude in the fall of 2016. The cost of the land and the total cost of the project are not disclosed.

Only saw it for a minute. Very round, cylinder like. Light Blue glass... Large crown? I guess you could call it that extends a few floors above the top. Lighting feature that runs up the side of the building I think. Don't know if it is on both sides. Just saw the angle from San Felipe and 610.
