Austin | 44 East | 573 Feet | 49 Floors | Complete

We have had hints of something in the works for 44 East with permit filings. But a Vancouver based developer has announced the project. It's condo and being designed by Page.

Is this different from the One Austin project? Something new to add to the list?

This one is brand new.

There was some discussion a while back in the update thread about something being planned for the site after a pre-development tree related filing was made. Here's the site:

Wow love this!

Has a site plan been filed? Looks like they would like to turn dirt "early next year" - with a fall 2022 delivery.

Holy shit.

We've pretty definitively punched through the Austin Plateau at this point.

No site plan yet.

Most Austin developers seem to start quietly filing permits leaving it up to us to speculate about what's going on and checking city websites for info. :) Formal announcements and a websites usually happen later. This developer made the formal announcement and has a website up and running before even filing a site plan.

The AAS article says the start date would be 2020. I hope its a typo and they do break ground early next year. I like the building and the location of it. A lot can (not) happen a year from now.

This looks like it was copy-pasted from Vancouver. Blue glass bristling with balconies. I guess we don't have anything quite like it though, and the height here is really going to expand the skyline.

Yes! Oh, man, I love it. I really hated not seeing that 21C project happen. It was such a nice design. This will do.

Yep, the article was updated after my post. It originally said "early next year."

I don't see how this will be delivered in the "fall of 2022" if it starts in "2020."

I was looking at the developer's (Intracorp) portfolio. Pretty impressive. 20k+ worth of housing already built including several high-rises. Projects anywhere from BC to Hawaii. It really says something about Austin's trajectory when bigger dogs like this join the party.

I love this project. Which makes me even more intrigued about the "several other" Central Austin projects in their pipeline.

Wow that was a nice surprise! Skyline is going to be lit in 2020 and beyond!

Updated this to celebrate -- let's just pretend the 56 East tower is happening:

It’s like a whole other skyline, so crazy!

So do you think it still encompasses 42 & 44 East based on the size in the rendering?
