And my absolute pride and joy of almost 17 years, my 1958 Cadillac Coupe deVille purchased on 11/07/57 at Lou Ehlers Cadillac by Mrs. Lucille D. Arnaz of 1000 N. Roxbury Drive Beverly Hills, Calif. My girl (also named Lucy :) is always a hit at car shows:multibow)!!! Can you just imagine how beautiful that redhead looked driving this car???

I LOVE LUCY[/QUOTE]

That is one fine looking ride Fab Fifties...if I saw you coming I would pull over and bow!
Here is a surprising find of Lucy's voters registration with commie affiliations!http://jpg1.lapl.org/pics44/00041994.jpg

MikeD Aug 6, 2011 10:00 PM

I think the address of Lucy and Desi's ranch in Chatsworth was 19700 Devonshire. Google Maps puts that smack in the intersection with Corbin Avenue!

Fab Fifties Fan Aug 7, 2011 12:08 AM

Isn't that something Cleats??? If I remember right, Lucy's uncle and grandfather were socialists and always touted the communist party, so Lucy registered as one in 1936 and 1938. The wierdest part is she never voted communist and actually voted for FDR in all three of his campaigns! Screwy redhead....

The gangland slaying of two Kansas City mobsters Tony Trombino and Tony Brancato.
The rub-out took place on North Ogden Drive just off Hollywood Boulevard in 1951.

ahhhhhh

etheral_reality,

Thank you for that great dose of noir, just what I needed!!! N. Ogden Dr is one of my absolute favorite streets in LA. Not just because Lucy lived there (well maybe a little bit) but because it is so unmolested in that area. And now some noir there too, love it!

I am in the midst of writing up a very noir profile that I will post to the thread soon....

Cool story about my mom. She passed away two years ago at the age of 93.

Mom ended up on the design team that produced the Lockheed P-38 Lighting fighter plane.

Great details

Ethereal-- fantastic noir--

Maybe it's why you posted about the hit in the first place, but I noticed that you did it exactly 60 years to the day after the rubout:

I love the Rotary Club sticker on the backlite of the Olds:

I'd forgotten about the Burgess brand of batteries and their distinctive black and red stripes:

Ogden drive

You know what I notice?

Check out the onlookers. Keeping a respectful distance, but surely close enough to get a good look-see. While I'm sure there were a few "Stand Back" and "Keep Away" orders from the cops, this didn't come anywhere NEAR how they treat scenes like this now.

They would yellow tape the neighborhood for BLOCKS around.

The better to preserve all the evidence? I suppose. But I also get the sense that cops treat the civilian looky-loos at a level only slightly above the criminals themselves.

Whoa! I didn't realize I posted it 60 years to the exact day (cue spooky music).
I've been meaning to post them for a month or so but I've been a bit lazy.

I know we've seen photos of this Simon's on Wilshire Boulevard but I certainly don't remember this particular photo.

The first thing I noticed was the makeshift 'Halsco Land Yacht' sign.
At first I thought it was an advertisement for the omnibuses that took tourists up and down Wilshire Boulevard.

It turns out a Halsco Land Yacht is a travel trailer (below is a 1936 model).

More eBay finds. Someone auctioned several original color slides showing Hollywood in the 1940s; here are ten of them. Bidding ended earlier this evening and most of the slides went for quite large sums of money.

(Some of the experts here may notice minor anomalies in one or more of these images. Although I was careful in removing the seller's mark from them, a few were quite difficult and the results are less than perfect.)
