I dunno, looks a little... cheesy. And the Spider Man font isn't helping things either.

Maybe they should make the crowns blend in better with the building color and not have name/signage on top. Other than that, a stunning design.

The design is very unique for Calgary. This highrise should be very prominent when viewing the skyline from the north. Will this proposal span the entire block?

It's about as elegant as a camel and as homely too.

Calgary deserves better.

Its interesting, can't decide if I like it or not. Unique, but a tad too gaude.

This will never get built.

At least not anything like it looks like now.

Ya, Las Vegas! The podium is so massive. This has to almost be a 2 building project (another set of twins), because of Shadow Restrictions, (unfortunately). Aside from that, a 55-60 story single structure would work much better.

I love it! My only complaint is that the podium is too tall.

i think that it looks just fine for what it is, a condo. its tall and unque for calgary as was stated. i think that it will look much better in real. so i will hold my judgment for that time. untill then i think i could grow to like it.

I like it... will add more variety to Calgary.

Scrap the signage and I dig this. That branding at the top kills it, though. Imagine that "3E" on the skyline.

Like many pf the Calgary forumers, I have a sore butt from sitting on the fence. It looks tacky as if designed for Dubai or Vegas, but one the other hand, it's unique. There's no harm in having something unique thrown into the mix.

Count me as all-in on this one.

I think Calgary can do better. It seems like the more "Way Out" the design the better it is!

To my unrefined eye, I don’t mind the pedestal height, and I like the idea of the bridge, but the detailing at the top seems odd, and not particularly appealing. I don’t understand those tiny balconies on the west side either.

The thing I don't like is the tall pedestal, and how large the floor plate size is on each tower. But like it or hate it...it will be a long shot for a conservative Calgary.

The podium is IMO too large. Some additional height on one or both buildings. And the "bridge" much lower floor level or none at all!

There appears to be more traction on this one. There was a public notice in the paper yesterday for this. In Calgary a public notice is part of the land use or DP process.

This one looked to be a pie in sky deal, but not anymore. It looks to now be going ahead. Summer of 2013 is the supposed date, with Shaw Communications moving in as the anchor tenant, taking up 12 floors of office space.

Looks like it was designed with a sledgehammer...but.....like others said it is different enough for Calgary that I could get onboard with it.

That's just it. I can't recall Calgary getting a building where so many people couldn't decide if they loved it or hated it....I still can't.

I think once it's been built, people will like it. If not at least Calgary can now claim a building that will have a nickname....London has the Gherkin and Grater, and Denver has the Cash Register, Calgary will have the Stapler!

I love it (Stapler)! Staples could move there headquarters to Calgary:D

I like this project, its unique and should stand out. It's different from the average box. I don't think it looks excessively tacky actually. Hopefully it will get built.

I guess this will get built after all. It is not one of my favourites but it is unique and will help fill out the skyline to the west. Way better than the parking lot!!

Ground breaking will be soon. The GC has been tendering out contracts.

lol! most people seem to be of that mind. Sometime s I like sometimes I don't....depending on the materials it could be a nice tower.

From what I've heard. it's going ahead, but just a matter of when.

Went in to 3 Eau Claire sale centre today and asked about ground breaking. They said in June but could not give me a definitive date. I think probably the date is weather dependant.

^^Next time you walk into the sales office for 3EC, ask if they'll add another 5-6 floors! LOL

They told me the ground breaking ceremony would take place in June and now we are almost into August. No sign of anything happening.

that render sells me on this tower. it would look great being unique to Calgary/any Canadian cities skyline. it has lots of impact and a grab you in your face kind of style. love it or hate it, it would/will have that going for it.

The shape is definitely growing on me, but the podium still seems way out of pre-portion IMHO.

According to this blog, Phase 1 is 70% sold and ground breaking ceremony should be early August.

From the Calgary construction thread. I also heard from another source that this one is very close.
