NY skyscrapers- can anyone identify these?

Here's a couple of mystery skyscrapers for you all to ID-
The first one is up near Columbus circle, and can be seen in the middle of this photo, kind of in front of the Hearst building:

Here's another shot- our mystery tower is in the center:

I found both of these pics on www.worldtravelimages.net

And here's our second mystery tower:

This one's on the bottom of the pic, just to the right of center. It's got a bit of an Art Deco feel, but I suspect it's a modern building:

First is Central Park Place.

Here's some more pics of that mysterious (and pretty!) second skyscraper:
These were both taken by me, in 2011.

The building in question is the one with the tall vertical column of mist emerging from its crown, right in front of the three XYZ buildings.

1177 avenue of the americas

Thanks! I googled that and that building is apparently also known as Americas Tower.

Great pictures from that view. :)

Just waiting when those xyz buildings get razed. Does anyone know how much the asbestos abatement cost the owners?

I rather like the XYZ buildings, they work well together. As one book says, they're some of the best background buildings in the city. I even found an interesting picture somewhere showing the tallest (Exxon) building under construction, there's some interesting wind bracing hidden under those pinstripes :)

I just love taking photos from the observation decks of Rockefeller Center and Empire State, especially now that I have a camera with a kickass zoom lens- all the better to pick out individual skyscrapers with!

Ya know, in any other city, either of these two towers would stick out. This is the first time I've ever notice them after seeing so much of NY's skyline. I really like America's Tower.

AKA the Americas Tower. I remember watching that one rise. A lot of people don't like it, but I do.

I think she's gorgeous, clean modern lines with Art Deco flair. Very classy! I need to get my sketchpad out, some of these buildings just BEG for character sketches!

I, too, love the XYZ buildings. They work well together and although nothing fancy looking individually, they are great as a threesome.

Amanita Aug 6, 2014 5:48 AM

Yeah, it's the fact that the three of them work together which makes them work- if there was just one, that wouldn't be the case.
