skyscrapers and pest management

Over the past decade New York, and the world has seen a huge resurgence in the incidence and reporting of bed bug cases. How do you get rid of the problem when you are managing a whole building!?

Once unheard of, bed bug cases are now commonplace, with infestations being treated in residences and businesses alike. Ask any NYC bed bug exterminator and they will tell you that they are very busy. With 99.6% of pest control services reporting bed bug cases in 2013, it’s clear to see that the bed bug is back and people are taking notice. Bed bug forums and reporting websites are now common and nothing can spell disaster for hotels and other businesses like the reputation for having a bed bug problem. Because bed bugs are so prevalent and can spread so quickly, it is essential for hotels and other businesses to have effective strategies in place to protect their customers.

the GE/RCA Building sure got over run... plus times square had nothing tall around it. The Metlife/Panam building used to stick right out from the west.

Nice seeing that world's fair photo. New York could use some more of this.

Its always interesting to look at the skyline of 2015, and compare it to the transformation of back in the day. These clips show that from 1920 to the late 70's.

New York (1970-1979):

Even then, Midtown was still large. Amazing the transformation in a 90 + years.

Compare the changes from the 1920's to 1956.

1956:

Good old chinatown still looks the same. A lot of culture and architectural goodness could be found there. Much of the neighborhood is still the same as it was back in the day. Even with the midrises going up near the area, it still retains its character. The biggest changes have occurred in Midtown, and parts near the WTC. We are so use to it, that its almost as if the city is missing something looking back at these.

Colorized 1949. Can see so many neighborhoods that now look radically different.

* 7:15 mark compared to now. Lot more blue sky. Also the UN contruction site.

* 8:26 Central park and surroundings aerial.

The oldest surviving footage of NYC: VIDEO
The film features 28 shots of iconic locations paired with maps

February 21, 2015
Quote:

A lot has changed in New York City over the past century. But, then again, a surprising amount has remained the same, as demonstrated by this footage going back to 1896. It’s the oldest footage of recognizable locations – such as Bryant Park, Washington Square Park, Times Square and the Williamsburg Bridge — in New York City, and maps have been added to help pinpoint the location of ever shot. - See more at: http://therealdeal.com/blog/2015/02/....56kD4V6q.dpuf
