Came accros this article updating the train's construction.

Still doesn't seem like a terrible idea but wonder if it will ever actually get finished. Does anyone have an example of a large public(ish) construction project that actually got finished without major delays. Guy at work insists this Scarborough retirement condo is an example but I think he's reaching.

That'll work. It's very near Culmer Station. They don't have extended the metrorail. I think Metromover will connect with the Marlins Stadium and the new soccer stadiums, as well. I think it's right choice for everyone. There is no needing extended the metrorail.

Hey! Thanks for posting a pics. I haven't see it yet. Everything change. I miss South Florida. I remember Broward Central Terminal and it is on Broward Blvd. I can see that.

All Aboard Florida receives second rail delivery

All Aboard Florida on Friday received its second delivery of rail beams — material that will be used to add a second track to the Florida East Coast Railroad line as part of the company’s plan to launch passenger train service between Miami and Orlando.

The company said the rail beams, which were delivered by train, are set to be unloaded at a handful of locations along the FEC corridor between Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Each rail beam is 1,600 feet long and weighs 72,533 pounds.

The new track will run parallel to the FEC line, allowing two trains to pass each other.

Yes! This is where they used to be. A old Miami Arena. That was long time ago. It was very near Overtown Metrorail station.

Land Across From MiamiCentral Trades For $6.3 Million, Part Of 1 Acre Assemblage

An investor has acquired 22,500 square feet of land across from All Aboard Florida’s MiamiCentral project.

Three folios traded for $6.3 million, including 201 Northwest 1st Ave, 95 Northwest 2nd Street, and 57 Northwest 2nd Street. The transaction closed on November 24.

Greenwood Miami, LLC is the buyer. Goldstone Property Inc, managed by the same owner, also controls the adjacent land, for a combined assemblage of 45,000 square feet.

The new owner is open to a joint venture or sale, according to a representative. The property is located on the same block where the Miami Parking Authority controversially approved the 33-story Grand Station residential tower last month (Moishe Mana also owns property on the block.)

Attorney Manny Vadillo of Torres Vadillo LLP represented the buyer.

Foundation Work Closer To Completion At MiamiCentral (Photos)

All Aboard Florida continues to make progress on the foundation for several towers at MiamiCentral.

Work now underway includes several residential towers, an office tower, a large retail complex, and a Brightline train terminal.

All Aboard Florida has paid $1.4 million to the Central Florida Expressway Authority to help secure the final easements it needs to make its run from Miami to Orlando. The commuter rail line has also indicated in its contract that an extension to Jacksonville is a real possibility.
When describing how All Aboard Florida will operate, the contract states in a number of places that “it is understood and agreed” that a Jacksonville leg is being considered.
When All Aboard Florida first announced its rail plans in 2012, executives with the company spoke openly about the railroad starting in Miami and reaching upwards to Jacksonville and west from Orlando to Tampa.
The talk cooled as the project progressed and the current plan is to get the system running from Miami to Orlando, with stops in Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
All Aboard Florida, a couple of years ago, secured all the easements it needed for its run up the coast from the Florida Department of Transportation. With that in hand, All Aboard Florida is working with the expressway authority to secure rights in Orange County.

not true , The Miami central station is a BIG deal for downtown and everything new building nearby.
In the future thou the Tri-rail trains will be more important then AAF trains.
tri-rail has 18 existing stations with years of ridership.
AAF will only have 3 stations plus 1 in orlando.

actually only 16 tri-rail stations will access the AAF miami station.
the hialeah & MIA airport stations will be on a different line.

I'm definitely not surprised. I've been saying for well over a year that they've been looking at this area. When you think about it, it makes all the sense in the world. The track is already there and the FEC, which is based in Jax, owns it. They also own or potentially have access to developable ready land around potential station sites. With the Miami-Orlando segment, a chuck of initial implementation costs are already being paid for. In addition, extending along an existing line they already own, also gives them the ability to tap into additional tourist destinations like Daytona Beach and St. Augustine. It's not a matter of if....just when. Btw, here's the link to the press release:

YES - but first the city of jacksonville needs a new convention center
that should be very easy.
