2700 W. 7th St. was the Westlake Camera Exchange according to a 17 July 1948 Los Angeles Times ad. The same address is the Silver Platter Grill in the 1956 City Directory, so we know it was there before 1963.

This photo is in Wes Clark's ginormous assemblage of Burbankiana. (top link, San Fernando Road.) But no addresses! Now, time for a chicken kebab run.

Thank you Mackerm for the update and the current photo link of this site. When I was 4 yrs I lived on a rabbit ranch in Burbank. I remember how strange it was then, that the more rural Burbank streets had no curbing or sidewalks. I thought wow, this is country. The husband used to kill the rabbits we ate for dinner. Rabbit was a popular dish in WW II and after since much of the meat supply was rationed and rabbit was not. Seen rabbit in your local LA market recently...no, but one used to.

I wonder what the current plans are, since nothing had come to be (yet). I know as of a few years ago, the owners were also planning on putting a Pup at the Bloc shopping center downtown, out on the street (Hope side). Probably would have done well downtown, especially in the wee hours.

I guess that's before you became CityBoyDoug...

The Tail o' the Pup was purchased two years ago by 1933 Group. The building is currently being restored at their facility and a new location for the restaurant, about two miles from the original, is being prepared.

Could it be a stairwell in the old Alexander Hotel?....There is similar stained glass in the Alexander's ballroom. (circa 1906)

When I first looked at the photograph I thought the Park Wilshire had added an elaborate, art deco side entrance!

but if you look closely (BELOW) there is also a thermometer/calendar (?) & writing at the top. .as well as a pegasus!. . . .so it's obviously part of the gas station.
- -even though (to me) it looks like it's across the side-street.

I posted Julius Shulman images of the single-story building on the right in post #32988, although they didn't include the tower. You posted this color shot about six weeks later. It shows the tower from the other side, but I'm not sure if we've seen a good close-up.
