Taz, 8 years old from Huntington Beach California. He has lived in Canada for 6 years now and doesn't care for snow and cold. He misses surfing and golfing and the good life in the OC.

Behold, dear forumers: the oldest known lolcat in existence!

http://icanhascheezburger.files.word...ngmydinner.jpg

This captioned cat picture postcard was found by Tracy Angulo in a Seattle antique store. Tracy tells us that the photograph is from 1905, which would make this officially the oldest cat picture with a caption, AKA lolcat, that we’ve seen.

The differences are clear. Proper grammar and a more formal tone was in vogue back then. But the similarities to modern-day kitten struggles and lolcats are amazing. ALL CAPS is still cool, but most importantly, she also no can has cheezburger. More than a hundred years later, all that’s changed is the spelling.

Great photos all. It looks like a lot of us forum members have cats.
Could there be a dog thread too?

Aleks Jan 15, 2009 5:21 AM

Yes! But only for Great Danes! JayKay. But I do love Great Danes!

Amazing thread! :ack:

And that cat house is so so cool. When I design my house Imma have to keep my 5 or so cats I'll have in mind. Oh, also my Great Dane and my Siberian Husky. And the fish. And my bird cage [mmmm, about 2 floors tall...]. And the outdoor fish pond. And the maid! :D

Just Kidding about the maid.

Aleks Jan 17, 2009 7:04 AM

I love fat cats. They're so so cute. But it's not good for them. Obesity has struck the feline family...

Anyways, a picture of my cat taken a long time ago... like 2 months ago...

MsMe Jan 17, 2009 7:15 AM

I had a tiger cat yrs ago that weighed 25 pounds.

Ronin, that second picture is amazing! Nice cat too!

FC-Is her name really Fat Kitty? :haha:

And...

James Bond Agent 007 Jan 27, 2009 4:20 AM

Might as well show the same ones I showed in the other thread, with the same captions . . .

These pictures are about 10-11 years old. This was my roommate's cat. Her name was Harley, but I liked to call her Hardly because she was hardly a normal cat! :D

She liked to hang out in this pose a lot.
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9089/harley1sg6.jpg

"Hmm, what's he doing with that metal thing?"
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/6169/harley2na7.jpg

One reason why she was hardly a normal cat was because she liked to hang out in sinks! :D
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/2374/harley3uv3.jpg

Well, what can I say - I had to use the sink to brush my teeth! But she was in the way. How to tell her to go away? Here's an idea . . .
http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/6269/harley4ay9.jpg

"Hmm, why is there water coming out of that thing?"
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5821/harley5kq8.jpg

touraccuracy Jan 27, 2009 4:56 AM

my cat sleeps in the sink too, i think it IS normal practice!

olga Jan 27, 2009 8:44 AM

^Yeah, my cat likes to hang out in the tub.
