Incredible...
It's a much healthier environment today, to be sure, but far more sterile. |
You caught my block in one of these shots. The transformation is amazing.
fascinating thread - so much great architecture in Harlem... I'm glad the area is regenerating.
Great transfomation, it remind me the transformation of the Northeastern Paris. (Even if it was never as bad as Harlem twenty years ago).
If I find picture i could make a similar thread. But many modern buildings are too much sterile and very outdated. An exemple here. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...2008/j2007.jpg |
Great to see Harlem doing so well.
unbelievable!
Unreal. I love NY pics from the '70s and '80s.
Dear God.
truly amazing, harlem looked like a bomb had been dropped on it from some of those earlier shots
Looking at these pics, it reminds me of what will happen to parts of North Philly (especially around Temple University and Strawberry Mansion). It's going to completely change in the next ten years!!!
amazing thread ... some 80's shots are really depressing !
So yes, it can be done. There's plenty of fertile ground in US cities which could see similar changes. And if the price of gas continues its climb, I bet more sections of older cities will see folks moving back in and new development. Thanks for sharing your find.

This is a really fascinating thread.
