Here is how to post a photo on Norish Los Angeles. At the right of your photo in Photobucket, we see a Red Arrow pointing to a field that says IMG. Left click on that field and it will 'copy' that image web address.

In your reply on Norish, left click where you want that photo to be seen and it will drop the photo file. [place the verticle cursor line first] You will see the 'photo file' web address. When you then 'submit post or submit reply', your photo should appear. After one or two times...believe me, its easy. Cheers and your car looks great.

I had a '63 back in the early 70's. It had a warped aluminum block that blew out head gaskets. I got to where I could change one in about an hour.

LAPL identifies that as a 1929 photo of the 1st Street viaduct, so that would make the street coming in on the right Santa Fe Street, with a portion of the grounds of the Santa Fe La Grande Station in the background:

The corner of this 1924 aerial of La Grande Station is cut off so we can't see 1st Street, but I think in the lower left corner is a sign in the same position as the one in the 1929 photo, with the same forest of palms behind the sign:

Interesting ER. My step-dad, born in 1898, used to tell me about the time he did this same prank or saw it done, as a kid. I suppose this was the rage in those days. I'm sure the boys got a huge laugh out of it.

The gang and I used to do the Invisible Rope prank in the street. We laughed our butts off with that one. BTW, kids still do it.

BTW, I did see that locomotive over the rail earlier in the thread and wanted to print out a photo to hand to the tour guide we had from L.A. Conservancy on our tour of Union Station. Thanks for expanding on the article. Now that we're up to 756 pages, it's hard for even me to go back and review all the great stuff here. Although, now that today is my LAST DAY at work before I officially start retirement of 40 years as educator, I may have time to start back at page 1 and enjoy Noirish all over again.

LOL, of course I looked at all the photos at the link. In my work I'm used to looking at hundreds of images at a time, although my visual memory isn't what it was (the Super Chief accident at Union Station being a case in point).

Congratulations on your retirement! I'm sure you've made a great difference to your 6th-graders taking them on your annual DTLA walking tours, one they may not even appreciate yet. I hope another teacher at your school continues that tradition. Although I sometimes chaffed at my mother dragging us into town so often (I would have been quite happy left to my own devices on the beach), between those outings and school field trips (Griffith Observatory, Union Station, City Hall, Central Library) I have a much better sense of place than I would otherwise. It's a real gift.

According to property records, San Antonio Winery (737 Lamar) owns 1734 N Main. They should be congratulated for maintaining it so nicely.
San Antonio Winery is next to Zobelein's Los Angeles Brewery/Eastside Beer (now the Brewery Arts Complex).
